TYVEK® APX™ 400
TA198S

Introducing Tyvek® APX™ 400
The first model launched from the Tyvek® APX™ innovation platform, Tyvek® APX™ 400 delivers all around extreme breathability while maintaining the same robust protection and durability that Tyvek® has provided for decades.
For the first time, workers no longer need to choose between comfort and protection, they can have both.
Commercial availability begins in February 2026.

Discontinuation of Tyvek® 400 Dual
With the launch of Tyvek® APX™ 400, we will begin phasing out the Tyvek® 400 Dual model.
While Tyvek® 400 Dual has been our most comfortable solution to date, thanks to its SMS back panel, this design involves a trade off: reduced durability and lower protection levels in the back.
With Tyvek® APX 400, compromises disappear.

Selling Tips

Tyvek® APX™ — Innovation Platform
  • New generation of Tyvek® for PPE designed to enhance wearability without compromising protection or durability.
  • Extremely breathable material validated by independent testing (EMPA) and global wear trials with almost 300 participants across regions and applications.
  • Comfort as a safety enabler: studies show a slower rise in core and skin temperature, reduced perceived thermal strain, and shorter recovery time compared with traditional options.
  • What this means for customers: more comfortable workers in demanding, hot and humid conditions, with the protective performance expected from DuPont.
Tyvek® APX™ 400 — Feel The Performance
Comfort
  • We’ve taken the comfort challenge right back to the heart of our Tyvek® fabric. We have developed a new type of Tyvek® fabric that is extremely breathable, allowing enhanced moisture evaporation and improved air circulation.
  • These properties have been scientifically validated by independent laboratories, including Empa (the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology).
  • Additionally, collaboration with wearable device leaders, such as Epicore Biosystems, has provided further assessment of performance in application, and customer trials have been conducted to evaluate user experience.
Feel the performance
  • Global wear trials with almost 300 participants across regions, industries, and job types evaluated comfort and wearability in demanding, hot and humid conditions.
  • Participants consistently preferred high‑breathability Tyvek® APX™ fabric in extreme temperatures and humidity, underscoring that comfort is a globally relevant performance advantage.
Test the performance
EMPA independent scientific study
  • EMPA conducted controlled environment trials supported by advanced human thermoregulation modeling and biometric monitoring.
  • Tyvek® APX™ showed a slower rise in core and skin temperature and reduced perceived thermal strain.
  • Testing indicated shorter recovery time and lower cardiovascular and respiratory responses while wearing Tyvek® APX™ 400, confirming reduced heat load under realistic work conditions.

Epicore in-field study
  •  In‑field monitoring of normal tasks captured sweat, sodium, skin‑temperature, and under‑PPE humidity signals, corroborating the comfort benefits observed in controlled testing.

Chemical Protection and certification
  • Certified according to Regulation (EU) 2016/425;
  • Certified Category III protective clothing
  • Type 5 (dry particulates)
  • Type 6 (low‑level spray)
  • EN 1149‑5 (antistatic treatment on both sides);
  • EN 1073‑2
  • EN 14126 (Barrier to infective agents)
Additional features
  • Three‑piece hood designed for respirator fit and ease of head movement.
  • Elasticated wrists, ankles, face, and glued‑in waist for a secure, ergonomic seal.
  • New! Thumb loops to help keep sleeves in place during overhead and stretched movement.
